Sports Lover’s Getaway

If you love sports and being active, then you will love springtime in Lakeville! Located conveniently near I-35, Lakeville puts you close to all of the Minnesota spring sports action. Plus, there are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you entertained when you’re not busy cheering on your favorite team.

DAY 1

Welcome to Lakeville! You’ll find that Lakeville’s hotels offer a variety of amenities for all types of travelers, whether you’re exploring the area alone, with your family, as a couple, or with a group. Check into your home away from home and take a few minutes to relax and unwind, because this weekend is going to keep you on your feet!

Today, watching your favorite Minnesota sports team from the stands, you’ll enjoy the great outdoors. In the spring, the Minnesota Twins major league baseball team, Saint Paul Saints minor league baseball team, and Minnesota United FC major league soccer team take to their respective fields. Whichever team you’re rooting for today, Lakeville puts you within a short drive to your destination.

After the excitement of an action-packed day, you’ll be ready to relax with a tasty dinner. Tonight, you’ll head to Carbones in Lakeville. If the weather allows, grab a seat on their expansive patio or dine inside for a good view of one of their many large screens playing that day’s sporting events. Savor a cold beer or cocktail and a fresh pizza made with from-scratch crust and topped with locally sourced ingredients.

DAY 2

Yesterday, you watched sports, and today, you’ll be playing them! But first, we recommend stopping by The Better Half in historic downtown Lakeville for a hearty breakfast. This modern diner serves breakfast until 3 pm, offering locally roasted coffee and an array of tasty breakfast concoctions to keep you satisfied.

Next, you’ll head over to the Kenwood Trail Disc Golf Course. This free 18-hole disc golf course includes a mix of woods, fields and multiple hills, with plenty of variety for beginner to experienced players.

Or, if you prefer traditional golf, you’ll want to snag a tee time at one of the seven beautiful and challenging public 18-hole golf courses in the area. Lakeville’s own Crystal Lake Golf Course features stately pines, pristine wetlands and seven ponds that create challenging water hazards. The facility’s newly expanded practice area now has 20 functioning driving range stalls and a 4,000-square-foot bunker with a target green. There’s also an 8,500-square-foot practice putting green, making Crystal Lake Golf Course one of the finest practice facilities south of the river. After a round of golf, enjoy happy hour on the patio at The Pub at Crystal Lake Golf Course.

If you’re a mini golf fan – or traveling with the kids – you’ll want to swing by the new mini golf course at King Park in Lakeville. The 9-hole mini golf course is free, but you’ll have to bring your ball and putter. The fully accessible course is the latest addition to King Park, which also includes an accessible playground where children of all abilities can play.

For dinner, visit Sawa Japan Steak House in Lakeville for mouthwatering sushi made to order and hibachi dinners crafted with only the freshest ingredients. This Asian eatery offers top-of-the-line service in a warm and relaxing environment. Top off your delicious meal with a scoop of Japanese or Mochi ice cream.
