Where the Fun Starts: Lakeville’s Pan-O-Prog Celebration

Every July, Lakeville, Minnesota, transforms into a vibrant festival grounds, full of exciting events, delicious foods and fun for the whole family. Pan-O-Prog, short for Panorama of Progress, is a week-long event that was started in 1967 to celebrate the community’s spirit and progress. Here are some of the top attractions you’ll find at Lakeville’s yearly Pan-O-Prog celebration:

 

Fourth of July fireworks display:

The fireworks display at Century Middle School kicks off Pan-O-Prog. Enjoy live music, inflatables and face painting for the kids, plus cuisine from a variety of food trucks. At dusk, kick back and enjoy the shimmering fireworks as they light up the night sky.

Lions Fly-In Breakfast:

The Lions Fly-In Breakfast offers attendees a breakfast they won’t forget! Enjoy a hearty breakfast while watching planes fly in and out of the nearby Airlake Airport. Aviation enthusiasts and families alike will enjoy this unique experience.

 

Lions Beer, Brats, & Bingo:

Beer, Brats & Bingo combines three favorite past times into one fun evening! Started in 1978 by the Lions Club, this event has grown significantly over the years, and today attracts more than 2,500 participants.

 

Cruise Night:

Cruise Night is a car enthusiast’s dream! More than 500 classic cars cruise down Holyoke Avenue in historic downtown Lakeville, offering a nostalgic glimpse into automotive history. After the cruise, take a stroll down Holyoke and view the cars on display. Check out the Plaza Market Stage, Lions Beer Garden, Babe’s Hometown Bar or Baldy’s Tailgate Bar for live music and entertainment before and after the cruise.

 

The Grand Parade:

The Grand Parade is a much-anticipated highlight of Pan-O-Prog, drawing large crowds of spectators who line the streets of downtown Lakeville to catch a glimpse of colorful floats, marching bands, and community groups. The parade is a grand display of the community’s creativity and local pride. After the parade, the fun continues with live entertainment at the Red Fox Tavern, Baldy’s Tailgate Bar and Babe’s Hometown Bar.

 

Food Vendors:

One of the highlights of Pan-O-Prog is the diverse array of food vendors that line the streets, offering a wide range of delicious treats and meals. From classic fair foods like funnel cakes, corn dogs, and cotton candy to more unique offerings such as gourmet burgers, ethnic cuisines, and locally-made ice cream, there’s something to satisfy every palate.

 

Carnival Rides:

The carnival near the Lakeville Area Arts Center will be open daily from Thursday through Sunday, with rides and games for all ages.

 

Craft and Vendor Fair:

Located at the Heritage Center, the craft and vendor fair offers unique items from local artisans and vendors, including locally made crafts, jewelry, food, pet items and more.

 

Street Market:

Located in the Dakota Curling Club Parking lot, the street market features artists and exhibitors from several states. From caricature portraits and face painting, to jewelry, handbags, homemade soaps, rustic wood prints, engraved cake pans and more, there’s something special for everyone.

 

Art Sale:

The annual Pan-O-Prog Art sale is held indoors at the Lakeville Area Arts Center. Local artisans will be displaying their work, including garden art and hand-made pottery.

 

Medallion Hunt:

The Medallion Hunt is a fun and interactive event that encourages exploration of Lakeville. Daily clues lead participants on a treasure hunt around town searching for a hidden medallion. The lucky finder gets a prize and bragging rights for the rest of the year.

 

Games Galore:

From cribbage and pickleball to softball, volleyball, cricket and euchre, Pan-O-Prog is packed with opportunities to compete against your neighbors in your favorite games and sports. Even the youngest members of your family can get in on the competition with the Ping Pong Drop and the Baby Crawl-A-Thon!

 

Pan-O-Prog Run:

This beautiful running course will take you along the scenic west side of Lake Marion. Race includes a 1-mile and a 4-mile run, and a free 1/2-mile fun run for kids.
